KTSOTR I love this idea. If you can get these maps on line at the AR servers so that we can follow them and see the results in pretty clear definition, it would be a great tool for many. And great new avatar too. I have not been online much recently and had not noticed the change earlier. Thanks for offering the servers for this Becky.

I just received this link from a friend. I had never heard of it before, but the local reference is definitely an accurate description. It might be a good idea if you ever have the inclination to exceed a posted limit, or find that sometimes you missed the reduced limit sign, to plot this into your next route for a road trip.

The car on the right in the last photo is definitely a Cord. I enjoyed the few cars up on the shelf, including what appear to be a BMW Isetta and a Messerschmitt, and possible either a Sparrow or a Davis above the Cord. I like restored cars, but not over restored. When they are so clean and polished and chromed that they look much better than from the factory. And I do enjoy cars that are modified they were when they were current, such as a racing stripe on a Corvair, or dash mounted tachometer on the steering wheel column of a Mustang.

I check several sources of Automotive history each morning for my email signature. Since we switched to the forum format it no longer appears on my posts here. Thanks for the Tucker photo. I have been fascinated by these cars since I first saw one in a museum back in the late sixties, and then saw one on the road in Hershey while waiting to carpool for work in 1974. It was before 6 am and a monocled Mercer Raceabout and a Tucker Torpedo both drove by heading back to the CCCA show. Until the movie, few people my age even knew about the car. What type of camera did you select? My wife just got a new digital with the image stabilization software, and it helps her in photography as well. I appreciate when people do not do flash photography in most museum settings, and laugh when they aim straight into a glass case and fire the strobe back into the lens.

Just a guess, but they look pretty new to me. Looks like it may be a new trend, at least in that area.

David, Thanks for keeping us on the road with this great item from Tacoma. There are some great looking cars there and excellent photography of the them as well. Thanks for the information, especially on the 43 anniversary of the airing of the final episode of Route 66. It was a great way to start getting our kicks today.

A center like this would be good to help all of us when attempting to travel the US Route 6. The people along the route should realize that no matter where on the highway the center is located, it will be a boost for their tourism as well. Hope this is not the end of the plans.

Check out this item on eBay. It is a restored travel trailer. Looks like it would be a perfect backdrop for a camping photo or such. I do not have any cars of the proper vintage, but I think it would look good behind a vintage Hudson, or Essex, or even a Terraplane.

Have dates been established? I know we have already booked one vacation in March, and another in May, so timing would be a major factor in deciding...

Ouch, That would make me 75. I guess I am aging faster than I thought.

Thanks for the update "Keep", I must say that the Ocean Cruise is a mighty fine alternative to the Road Cruise. Great food, movies under the stars, excellent service, lots of rum, fine shows, and beaches. Pretty nice, and no road rage either. This will be a stay at home weekend with a choral concert tomorrow night, as our men's chorus completes our 17th summer performing with the Allentown Band, the nation's oldest civilian concert band which made its first documented performance July 4, 1828. The schedule even keeps me from attending the Wheels of Time Hot Rod show in Macungie PA. Hope all the road travelers have safe trips, good weather, and good stories and photos to share!

I would go this way if you are in Pueblo as I find Colorado Springs, Manitou, Pike's Peak, and the Garden of the God's a must see for the USA. I also find downtown Denver to be a great city to visit if you have the time. But it sounds like time will limit what you can fit in during your visit, so I will suggest that you follow the advice of the experts who have proposed several alternatives to you and select the one that fits your needs the best. Interstates are great when time is of the essence, just make sure that you exit here and there and also visit sites that interest you!!!

I just reports what I read...the encyclopedic group owns the maps. Heck, on Sunday we fly from Allentown PA to Ft. Lauderdale FL by way of Detroit. My geography knowledge was not too good in school either. I preferred algebra.

Graham, who had no injuries, was cited for disorderly conduct.

Thanks for keeping us organized KTSOTR. The garage always appears to be a busy chaos, but in the end you seem to have your finger on the pulse of everything that is happening. Since the TR3 is in the restoration shop getting some work done on the front suspension, I have a hour or so here at home to catch up before the hoards once again descent on the home. I will miss the chatter next week, but I hope my ears don't burn up too much with behind my back gossip. Now where do I dump the used motor oil?

Dave, I will get back to you on these later. I will be tied up today and tomorrow, and then leave on a Caribbean Cruise...my wife and I really need to get away from computers and phones for a while and relax...but when I return I will try to remember to contact you on more information. Sounds intriguing.

Could they have been some sort of WPA project? I have no reason to believe this, just a hypothesis.

Thanks for reminding me of J. C. Higgins. My early fishing rod was from that line. I had completely forgotten that name, but then I forget the name of the guy who sat next to me yesterday. In the early 1970's I worked at a local Carvel Ice Cream stand. I went to an all male college, Lehigh University, at the time, and the Carvel was at the edge of the local all-female school, Cedar Crest College. When things were slow in early spring, my boss would have a local radio station announce a free ice cream cake for the first woman to arrive at the story in a bikini. It was always a welcome event. I also remember the day that a Cedar Crest student arrived to order a soft ice cream cone. At that time we had only the walk up window on which we would need to raise the screen to serve the customers. This attractive woman had on a very loosely knit fish net tank top and nothing underneath. I was a bit befuddled about where to look and what to say, but I did break up my boss when I attempted to hand here the cone without first raising the screen. I think she had the effect she was looking for.
