  1. Hey pipe down Bonzo...I have no secret or public levels here. And now that Fagin is in the shop for his long winter's nap and snow is falling outside, I am stuck with the HO slots and the Lionel for Christmas. Merry Christmas to ALL! (Hopefully this edit will show the photos I was posting here.) (This edit I am trying to only link one photo to see if I have more luck) PS: Love the postcards Alex!
  2. I have heard from people who have seen this or similar items in operation. I understand that the top speed is not much beyond a walking speed. Gyroscopes keep it upright. It is not anywhere close to a practical form of transportation at the present time.
  3. I definitely had been considering the Vibe when I ended up buying the Acura TSX used instead. I still admire the Vibe, and actually like the look better than the Matrix. I am glad to hear that it works well for you Denny.
  4. Thanks Kevin, I did not know that Ripley's still did the comic...I thought it was now just the museums on boardwalks and such...
  5. I love these Sign Spotting items. Doug Lansky has two great books out of photos of signs from around the world. You may wish to submit your photo to the Signspotting website.
  6. Question 1: I think the audience would be limited, but would be a mixture of most of these groups. 2: As I still do not use GPS or take a computer on vacations, I would be one who would use it in preplanning, and be looking over my map during the trip. 3: I think that internet or CD copies would work allowing buyers/users to print their own copies. Maybe hardcopies would work if they were to be distributed to businesses along the route. 4: I think a popular route such as Route 66 or the National Road would be best for a first trial as it would help see what the market would be, could get funding from advertisers, and would be good from the historical approach even for those who would not be able to travel the route. I would see that a basic route instruction, with some land marks that remain being highlighted would be a good first approach, and then more bells and whistles being added if the interest warrants the effort.
  7. My last post in http://americanroadmagazine.com/forum/inde...p?showtopic=239 shows photos of Saylor's in Allentown PA. It is still in the same condition, and has not yet sold. Most rumors have it being torn down for another unwanted strip mall.
  8. I just wanted to let you all know that America On Wheels has a new display opening this weekend on American Oval Track Race Cars. I have posted some photos on the Flick'r account. These are not the final photos as the show gallery display does not open until this weekend, but I could not resist taking some photos while I was in cleaning tires and helping out today. It was very cool to be working on the tires of an A J Foyt Coyote that could be the same one I saw him drive at Pocono Speedway about 100 years ago (okay, maybe not that far back, but close). I hope some folks get to stop in to see them.
  9. Dave, We have been staying a bit above freezing here, but south of us got snow cover yesterday, canceling John McCain's outdoor rally in Quakertown. About 50 miles north of here, Tobyhanna had 16 inches of snow yesterday, but we just had lots of wind and rain. And it just started up again, just to make the World Series more interesting if they try to play tonight. GO PHILLIES!!!
  10. Dave, There is hope for you yet
  11. Do you need some sort of release from your doctor to order this? Or do they provide medication and have EMTs on hand?
  12. Which is the truth. They were desperate, and they invented the Subaru Outback, just too soon. I don't own an Outback, but we have a Legacy wagon with AWD and love it.
  13. When I first read this link, I thought of something like the streets in the city of Ketchikan, AK
  14. Alex, That sounds like something out of a Tom McCahill review in Popular Science. I loved his car articles. No one uses such wonderful prose anymore. I am in awe of your phraseology.
  15. I always liked the AMC Eagle. It was such a trendsetter, like many AMC vehicles. But like other AMC's it was unappreciated by the public. AMC did so much with so little funding. Yours looks great.
  16. Dave, I have know that you are always on top of all the fashion trends...but now I know you have been a fashion leader for years. Thanks for sharing.
  17. Most of my former dogs were in the 70-80 pound range. One Black and Tan Coonhound I had was lighter in weight, but extremely long legged. At the time I had a Cavalier Station Wagon with a sun roof. I often drove with the roof out, and the seats down. Champ would stand on all four with his head completely above the roof of the car. I just had to learn to use just the outside mirrors as all I saw in the rear view was his chest. I think he may have cause a few accidents as people turned their heads to watch him as we passed in opposite directions. I do sure miss having a dog, but make do with my son's Great Dane, and my daughters huge Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. But I do not miss the shedding of hair in the house.
  18. I have inherited nearly 1000 old postcards, but so far I have made no attempt to see what I have. Maybe a long cold winter can get me started on sorting and viewing them to see if I have anything fun to post.
  19. Keep, Sounds like the trip is off to a great start. I normally prefer a road trip this is only half planned, and there is leeway for improvising as you go. It sounds like this trip will be a lot of fun. Since I am not traveling for a while, it will be fun to be traveling vicariously with you. Have some fun for me...
  20. Thank you. I never realized that feature was there. That makes this much better for my methods. Maybe I will next start to read the instruction books with new products and software before I start using them. Thanks for the help.
  21. I do not know the name of the current software they are using. I know that the owner of the forum has updated a couple of times, but as long as I have belonged (since May of 2007), the British Car Forum has had that feature. I am sure if your webmaster contacts Basil, the "forum emperor", he would be willing to help. He is a good guy. PM me if you need me to contact him for you...
  22. It looks like the foliage should be really nice this weekend on the South Mountain of the Lehigh Valley. I will be heading over to Goodman Stadium for the Lehigh football game, and this will probably be the best week for the colors as the team is on the road the next two weeks. I need to take the Triumph out a bit this week then to admire more of the color as it develops. Some of the trees are pretty good here already.
  23. I sent out a bunch of emails with links to friends so and my Congressman to see if we can make this go away...
  24. Denny, The Delta Queen has been in our plans for some future trips, but now it sounds like we will be denied the opportunity based on the decisions of bureaucrat and/or legislators. I took the time to sign the guest book. Who knows if the DQ can be saved, but thanks for giving me the heads up to try and help.
  25. Amazing timing for the footage. I was sure glad that there were no cars coming into view during the filming too.
