    Magazine Index

Greetings everyone. We are thrilled to announce a new format for the American Road magazine index that American Road Forum Member Rick Etchells started a few years ago and continues to update for us. This format update has been some time coming, but, they say all good things are worth the wait. With Rick's help, we developed a search tool, that returns results based upon a query. Here's a link to access the Back Issue Index tool. You'll also find a link to the Back Issue Index tool under the "Magazine" navigation button and in the footer of each page in the main section of the American Road magazine website. We welcome any suggestions to continue to enhance the tool. Please join me in thanking Rick and the rest of the American Road staff who worked on this project! We hope you find this tool useful. Best, Becky

  7. Greetings everyone, Tune in to American Road Trip Talk. This week: When filmmakers want to create a dinosaur domain for our imaginations, there is one favorite place on earth that they go to create their prehistoric settings: The Hawaiian island of Kauai. Specifically, they set up their cameras in the National Tropical Botanical Gardens. Our spring issue of American Road Magazine is built around the theme of dinosaurs so I dialed up the NTBG and spoke with communications director Janet Leopold about this remarkable tropical gem. On Kauai, the westernmost of the Hawaiian islands Steven Spielberg found the perfect setting for many of the scenes in his 1993 prehistoric classic, Jurassic Park. Janet was there for the filming and has some interesting stories to share on this podcast. Click to Subscribe to the RSS feed for American Road Trip Talk - so you won't miss a mile! HI, Do you have any photos that you could share? Thanks!
  11. Great ideas everyone! To add to Pat's comment about Fatwallet.com, there's another similar site named Ebates.com. Some stores not on Fatwallet might be on Ebates and vise versa. Another cost saving 'rule' I have is that if I'm running errands, I need to accomplish at least three in one trip. I try to avoid one stop errand runs.

  15. Just read this article on Top 10 Vehicles for Summer Road Trips. http://www.ajc.com/services/content/printe...riday06051.html We'd love to hear what you nominate for best vehicle for a road trip. To kick off the discussion - I did get to drive a mustang convertible (rental car) on Route 66 once. I must admit, it was SWEET! The only time I didn't like it was when a big truck pulled in front of us kicking up dirt and stones.

  18. You may have read about Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland in the Winter 2010 issue of American Road magazine. Bronner's started out as a Christmas store that now is a landmark tourist attraction in the Midwest. This week, join Foster Braun as he talks with Wayne Bronner, son of the store's founder. (Bronner's is located in Frankenmuth, Michigan--and is a short side-trip off of I-75. For those of you who love the two-lane back roads as we do--you'll find Bronner's lies not too far from a stretch of the Dixie Highway). Directions may be found on the store website. Enjoy!
  19. American Road® Trip Talk's first show of 2011 is posted for your listening pleasure. In Foster Braun's Blog: American Road Trip Talk Warning, if you like flap jacks, this show might make you want to jump in your car to take a road trip so that you may attempt the "Pancake Challenge!" Happy listening and safe travels on the American Road! Becky
  20. I remember stopping at the shoe tree on US 50 in Nevada on one of our trips. It was really something to see. Photos from that trip are in Volume 2, #3 of American Road. I'm saddened by the loss of this landmark. Does anyone else have fond memories of their visit to the shoe tree on Nevada's stretch of US 50? Did you sacrifice your shoes?
  21. Host, Foster Braun, took time off during the New Year's holiday to enjoy time with family and friends. Foster began work today on new programming. 23. Just in time for the holiday: Listen to the latest American Road Trip Talk (podcast)- Foster Braun interviews Sharon Tesch: Super-Sized Santa. The little village of Christmas, Michigan was built on a dream in the 1930's that was almost wiped out by fire. But the spirit of Christmas is alive and well on the shores of Lake Superior and is home to the world's tallest Santa Claus. http://americanroadmagazine.com/forum/index.php?app=blog
