  1. * Each time I visit, I INTEND to visit regularly to not have so much catching up to do, but life gets in the way. A good thing, for the most part. Also, I am formulating road trips to northwest IL, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, southern IL, Tennessee, Carolinas, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, etc, so please advise if you would like me to visit! Along the way, I may attend EVENTS listed on my 3 websites: https://www.cdshowcase.com/events/ https://www.cdconsultingservice.com/events/ https://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/ocsh-cruise-nights/ ON THE AIR Tuesday, 11/22/2022, I joined Carol for the last few minutes of the WRMN-EAC "Chamber Chat" program; you can see and hear me starting around the 31 minute mark via Facebook live: https://www.facebook.com/CDShowcase/posts/pfbid0co9FqtX6VkR43dQTLFhHj5DTvWbrjU6zABJ88BiizwkSbmm2PYw9Y7s4APLykUX1l ROAD TRIPS-VISITS * 06/2022, I drove to western IL and far eastern IA with an aunt and cousin. https://www.facebook.com/CDConsultingService/posts/pfbid02KZ6Qiit49zDWkWhBqKtnu7ztT3YjieMpsgajimACEeLbtqxosYZfvFcMB9ivX4vPl * 07/2022, I met a friend in Marengo IL. https://www.facebook.com/CDShowcase/posts/pfbid0FSoJLxb5iuDZSR9WAd2Qpq7Wt4dzbMjjbuvj6tLgjxUH8jkKx3EjWQzhZRoY3i4Jl * 08/2022, After months of planning, I finally road tripped to Springfield IL to see a friend and was treated to a ride in a cool car. https://www.facebook.com/OldCarsStrongHearts/posts/pfbid02rXpU4FRKXj69x9KTbN88w2XsoCe5nrTULFDHWbJpH4r61mL6dmiVRwgb5hLLNiWal * 09-10/2022, I journeyed along several mini road trips, but neglected to take pictures of my trip to northeast IN, tho I did write up the details. https://www.facebook.com/cortOldCarsStrongHearts/posts/pfbid02VeEynckWModdwhsM7Wx8bz8At759g7A8yX3jPouqHNJW5LGft37qdcwfkovphiqUl MY CARS MEET My 2 cars (2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS and 1981 Monte Carlo SC) finally met in person for the 1st time in southeast IL, 10/2022: https://www.facebook.com/OldCarsStrongHearts/posts/pfbid0Gt8FzMp2EKYSCXpYiLfk1sCJknFc6ewFYdBgH76hyVu3MLiY61GRSsHxKF2ibZudl During that same trip, I took several cool photos, including these 2: https://www.facebook.com/cortOldCarsStrongHearts/posts/pfbid0o8axkDdQVCHYrmDNJPRAVKHCDrikFSDx7z5hu5peiQWkaoWtgXCPV4i2adbiV2Xel https://www.facebook.com/cortOldCarsStrongHearts/posts/pfbid02p1UdfSSDgAU9cQhphxC6KjU5W1VbqcpDdBctPmMe48EdeVY2KBXA2tWqQjFygwTql REMEMBERED-CELEBRATED * Dan at 3 months: https://www.facebook.com/cortOldCarsStrongHearts/posts/pfbid0SMtaTpnbUoch4g8mDh8EwDU9R1uzEoxFBpsdFp6c4tgzF19i3edqNd62kecqgBDml * 07/01/2022, my pacemaker was replaced, after over a year of being told the replacement would be "within months"; funny how that works. https://www.facebook.com/cortOldCarsStrongHearts/posts/pfbid02aerGs9jtb8nVgmV5jmHXCSveuXZWtGezpUGVf3fyNcZQDEjtB5xBkvTjQ8F57Gs4l * Dan at 6 months: https://www.facebook.com/cortOldCarsStrongHearts/posts/pfbid02WadQRYcGgsLDQdTrj9WbUHMhkRnGGRnPaQiSLJSNtekHrrcW2ZkAb8kiUgHnzRmHl * 10/31/2022, for Halloween, we had 22 trick or treaters, including Nephew And The 2 Nieces. https://www.facebook.com/cortOldCarsStrongHearts/posts/pfbid0sxbqh6Qefdg59wNZimCtMcEzixnQ6oeBbstQQHGKPvUT2pzF5n1zyPvBY2tmGfhfl * 11/11/2022, 11 years since my 4th open heart surgery; celebrated a day early on the last "warm" day of the year with this photo: https://www.facebook.com/cortOldCarsStrongHearts/posts/pfbid02M3UmxGWtLTKbeXWb8nbs89sdCEeK3UEiAGnsREZ8r2emW9io2HEy7c5jVtRqLABKl * 11/24/2022, Thanksgiving Day, I posted a sampling of the GRATITUDE LOG I began in early May: https://www.facebook.com/cortOldCarsStrongHearts/posts/pfbid0wvphc5dB6tbV7XVt2A289S4DHfXeAdvFqguvztu6YpLri9mKMtcQaPHvPAMT9y3Xl Cort, pig and cow valves with pacemaker 2003 MGM LS + 1981 cmc SC; need 1975 Chrysler Cordoba "Wonderin' what's real & wonderin' why" | Andy & Terry Murray | 'Treasures For The Road'

  3. * Been forever and a day since I last visited, so time to catch up a bit! I have video of the odometer changing, which I will share sometime. IDES OF MARCH 2022 Dan, my best and closest-ever friend, died early AM 03/15/2022; I was in his ICU room with him. 4. * So, I finally detailed my car. Big deal, right? For me, this time, it kinda is! When I had my family of MCs, I spent every "automotive season" Saturday (weather permitting) detailing a car. But, when I detailed my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS (which I'd bought late 2016) a few weeks ago, I hadn't detailed a car in at least 6 years. That sparked a "Monday Mystery" social media status which then led to a full entry (including pictures!) on OC,SH. If you'd like to read the tale, check it out here: https://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2021/07/21/cleaning-detail/ Meantime, 1 reason I list events in all 50 states on the OC,SH website is to encourage people to travel to meet. I did that a lot ~2002-2011 (which some of you might remember). Along those road trips, I discovered some cool connections. Take a look at the list & see what you might want to attend yet this year. As always, you are welcome to join us in Elgin IL along Historic US 20 for Cruise Days (Sundays, 3p-6p) & Cruise Nights (Wednesdays, 6p-8p). What road trips have you planned & done around gatherings? The forecast for this Sunday's Cruise Day & next Wednesday's Cruise Night is (so far) much better than last week's weather. Anyone joining me for some summer time fun? 6. * Been another long while since I have visited. Hope everyone is well. Posting now because I am excited to share some news! Official announcement, with a personal note about US 20: https://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2021/07/06/announcing-cruise-days-nights/ Website page with full details (dates, times, etc), plus a list of events including at least 1 in every U.S. state: https://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/ocsh-cruise-nights/ Will you join us? IN OTHER NEWS: Still researching options for a new radio show home, but details of my past shows, including some you can still hear online, are here: https://www.cdshowcase.com/radio-show-history/ Also, 02/20/2021, I posted a vent-rant, which includes some rather personal news, on Facebook. The status is probably similar to the thought-provoking threads I used to post on the boards, if anyone remembers those. Anyway, I decided to make the status public, so check it out if you are interested in a discussion. 7. As y'all can see, I'm horrible at replying within a "decent" timeframe. I had every intention of visiting again last Sunday, but a meeting with a client took longer than I'd anticipated ... and the entire day's schedule got even more out of whack with a close friend needing some help-support as well. That noted ... glad to see the replies. Forums seem to have slowed down, if not altogether completely gone away, since what felt like their "heyday" back in the early 2000s. Back then, I was a member of over 30 message boards and thoroughly enjoyed it ... & scheduled road trips around meeting people from those forums. At one dinner in Oklahoma City, I discovered a guy I'd known for years on a auto manufacturer-specific message board had been taught by my grandfather in HS in rural Oklahoma. Can't make those type of connection stories up. I get goose bumps every time I tell that story. Michael ... I, too, am looking forward to being able to socialize in person again. Glad to see interest in US 99. I also checked out your Ridge Route website as well. Nice! Dave ... glad to see you are alive & well, too! My goodness ... I didn't realize you are 80 years old! You seem like a youngster. 8. * I used to be a daily-regular poster, but I haven't posted in ~1.5 years! How are you in this crazy year of 2020? Reviewing threads I've posted over the years, life changes & stays the same, with different & similar things important from time to time. Connections highlight life, with this world becoming smaller than we think sometimes. To those who remember me, I'm still alive; my daily visits here with many of you are some of my treasured memories. Lots has been happening (& not happening) for me, but I'm gearing up to re-start the daily schedule on my updated hobby website: https://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/ ...which has more OC,SH NETWORK members: https://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/ocsh-network/ I have also created a separate-new website for another hobby, my radio shows, with more details than before: https://www.cdshowcase.com/ Cort, pig & cow valves with pacemaker 2003 MGM LS + 1981 cmc SC; need 1975 Chrysler Cordoba "It's always the same old story, you never know what you've got til its gone" | Mike & the Mechanics | 'All I Need Is A Miracle'
  9. * June 2019 already? As I suspected in April, life did get in the way of being active more often here. When I had my family of cars & road tripped yearly (2002-2011), I visited over 35 groups & message boards regularly; I cut back a few years ago & now visit irregularly because life has sure changed over the years. I am (thus far) still alive, tho. I have been out of work since last August & job hunting is difficult; I even started my own business. But, a new bright spot is returning to the airwaves! Official announcement of my re-booted radio show: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2019/05/15/cd-showcase/ [includes genre details & links to check out] 2019 CD SHOWCASE website page: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/radio-shows/2019-cd-showcase/ [features playlists & links (related Facebook group & FB event; radio station website & FB page; how to listen when show airs & online-via podcast)] If you enjoy the show, let me know & give some feedback direct to the radio station; thank you. 16. * So, which is your favorite(s) of the 9 posted photos!? Seems we MAY have an apartment. Should know sometime soon, tho not sure what the definition of soon is in this case, ha. Depending on when we know for sure & when our move-in date is, I may sneak in a road trip, so let me know if you would like to see me along the way. I had cardiology & other checkups scheduled for 05/17/2018 at Northwestern in Chicago, but had to cancel those & will re-schedule them (including additional specialists given the current health issues) once I know about the apartment. I may either fly or take the train back to Chicago (or maybe rent a car), then drive my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS back to Oregon. 17. * So, I finally posted 9 teaser photos on OCSH; see the entry here: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2018/05/18/cobweb-dusting/ I thought about highlighting 2-3 pics in this post, but could not decide which to feature! Which would you have featured? Meantime, we are awaiting word about approval for a possible apartment in Medford OR. If that does not pan out, I will most-likely road trip! Anyone want me to stop for a visit if I go? Speaking of, I have been without a vehicle for over 2 weeks, more difficult for me than even I imagined. Along with financial worries, I have a few health issues developing, so I am trying not to panic. A barber, a dentist, a home-cooked meal, & someone to explore the area with me would be nice. Once things settle down a bit, I plan to return checking in here more regularly. Until then, peace. 18. * Hmm ... where is everybody!!!!??? The last 2 days have featured awesome weather in southern OR, & I took advantage both late afternoons by walking ~45-60 minutes on a section of Bear Creek Greenway, starting at a park at I-5 Exit 21. Snapped some photos & took a video which will be included when I write a post (might schedule several entries) on www.oldcarsstronghearts.com for the photos & videos I have taken since January, some of which I have uploaded to my personal Facebook page, globally so they can be seen whether you are on FB or not. Anyway, since I last visited, made a few connections, but so far, still no place. IF we cannot find a place within the next few weeks, I may consider road tripping for a little while! Anyone want a visit if I start driving? Yes, I have a job. I continue working remotely as the Part-Time Office Manager for a home appraiser in the Elgin IL area, planning to go to Full-Time later this year; I want to get off Medicaid when I can afford my own healthcare policy. *rolls eyes* Luckily, I have other income options to check out, but meantime, I will withdraw funds from my IRA to pay some bills since expenses keep increasing. Right now, to save money on renting a car (currently a yellow Dodge charger at a very low rate), I am trying to decide if I should buy a 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis here for $1,000 or spend nearly $2,000 to have my beloved 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS shipped to southern OR. Decisions decisions decisions. Peace. Cort, www.oldcarsstronghearts.com pig&cowValves.paceMaker * 03 MGM & 81mc + 86 Mustang "I'm gonna ride on the silver lining" | FFH | '1 Of These Days'
  19. * Gorgeous area here in southern Oregon (like MANY other places across the United States) & pics do not do it justice. But, I hope to have a new post soon on www.oldcarsstronghearts.com with many photos I have taken so far. While I apologize for not including more detail about what all we HAVE looked into so far, I purposefully kept it vague because I did not want to limit brainstorming (tho, we are already thinking outside-the-box). So, yes, we have checked Craiglist, local ads, local newspapers, area businesses, etc., & reached out to Mennonite Your Way (no response yet) & other similar organizations. At this point, we are hoping networking will help. I have always said (given experiences during my 2002-2011 road trips) we are more connected than we know. My favorite small-world story of that type is when I met a guy I had known for a few years in Oklahoma City OK in 2006 & (long story short) found out he had been taught by my grandfather in a rural OK High School. Every connection helps. Cort, www.oldcarsstronghearts.com pig&cowValves.paceMaker * 03 MGM & 81mc + 86 Mustang "A dead end street is just a place to turn around" | Wynonna | 'Rock Bottom'
  20. * Been a while, eh? Yes, I am still alive, but the biggest news is I am no longer in IL! A friend & I moved to southern OR 01/04/2018, but 2.5 months into the move, we are still looking for a place to call home (apartment, motor home, trailer, house). So, if you have any connections in the Grants Pass-Central Point-Medford-Ashland areas who may be able to assist us, we would greatly appreciate it. Neither of us want to give up, despite increasing pressures, stress & expenses. Meantime, since I last visited, I posted pics from the 2017 Cruise Nights I hosted at Beef Villa in S Elgin IL: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/ocsh-info/ocsh-cruise-nights/ &, I have published a few sporadic posts the last few months on the home page; planning a new entry sometime soon with pictures I have taken here in Oregon: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/ What is new with you!? 22. * Yep, I know it has been a while since I last visited, over 5 months, in fact. The road trips I had planned were quickly destroyed, thanks to new health issues & unexpected expenses which wiped out my built-up savings. The health issues had stabilized, more or less, thanks in part to Medicaid finally approving specialists, but then a scare about a speck in my lung being cancerous put me back on edge. I hope to get health issues & finances situated enough so I can do my Road Trips & Working plans sometime later this year or early next year. Meantime, I have been doing (& chronicling on my website) some day exploratory road trips with my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS in the northern IL area to drive roads I have never seen, the latest excursion of which happened Tuesday, 07/11/2017, in conjunction with a drive to Moline IL to meet a friend in person for the 1st time. I posted a writeup & pics here: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2017/07/14/road-trips-working-11/ Otherwise, life has been mostly good, & I made some changes (with more on the way) to my website [which combines a love of vintage vehicles & congenital heart issue awareness with several different pages & features], including a brand new Business Card. front: back: I have also just launched official OC,SH cruise nights, to which ALL ARE INVITED; take a look at the announcement in this link & let me know if you can join us sometime: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2017/08/09/road-trips-working-12/ I love showcasing mom'n'pop style places, described by some as the backbone of our society. When we help others succeed, we succeed. To that end, I launched a revised OC,SH NETWORK with 2 tiers of membership: LTD R/T SS & HEARTLAND. Check it out: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/ocsh-info/ocsh-network/ Daily themes: "At The Heart" (Round Rock TX) "Daily Vehicle Choice" "Cruise Night Show" (summer 2017) Weekly themes: "Monday Message" & "Miniature Monday" (cars I bought) "Turntable Tuesday" & "TV Tuesday" (El Camino interior, Austin TX, 09/11/2016) "Wednesday Wakeup" & "Wildlife Wednesday" (photo I took at a cruise night, 06/05/2011) "Thursday Throwback" & "Theatre Thursday" (reflective photo I took 10/17/2010 of my then daily driver 1979 Caprice Classic seen in a Buick LeSabre) "Friday Flashback" & "Friday Fun" (picture I took at a hotel in Indianapolis IN, June 1981) "Smorgasbord Saturday" & "Saturday Sizzler" (HO scale scene with slot car track) "Scenic Sunday" & "Story Sunday" (A view of the bridge at Devils Elbow, MO, Route 66) Occasional theme: "Road Trips & Working" (Lindenwood IL castle house with M- Hope all is well for everyone. 23. * If you would like to meet up while I am in the southwest US (including portions of Route 66) in March, check out the ROUGH itinerary here: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2017/03/05/road-trips-working-5/ I will post itineraries for April (southeast US), May (northwest US) & June (northeast US) later. FYI: the above post has links to the 4 entries I wrote for the mini road trip test (Sunday, 02/26/2017, to Friday, 03/03/2017) between western IL & central MI. Those entries include an overview of my 1st 4 road trips in 2017, pics of my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis (with side window deflectors installed & a gripe about the steering wheel controls), exploring Okemos MI &, of course, some of my thoughts. 03MGM SIDE NOTE: a couple weeks ago, I ordered & then received the sales brochure for it; I love having documentation like that for cars I own or have owned! With side window deflectors installed: Illustrating a gripe about the steering controls: 1 of several pics of Okemos MI: Part 1 of multi-item Buick Collection I received; read about it here: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2017/02/27/miniature-monday-9/ Part 2 of multi-item Buick Collection: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2017/03/03/friday-fun-9/ Do you agree? (This OC,SH original features a photo I took while driving my 1981mc!) http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2017/03/01/wednesday-wakeup-9/ 1 of many reflective photos I have taken: http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2017/03/03/friday-flashback-9/ This 1936 Dodge was driven to high school! http://www.oldcarsstronghearts.com/2017/03/02/thursday-throwback-9/ Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com pig&cowValves.paceMaker * 1979 CC to 2003 MGM + 81mc "The life I love is making music with my friends" | Willie Nelson | 'On The Road Again'
  24. Despite my usage of a "stamp" on the photos I post on my website, I definitely struggle with adding them. I don't like covering the image, either; however, I've also found many times pics I've taken have been used elsewhere with no notation as to where they originated. Cool as that is, I've seen times when people have asked to see more, but have not been directed to where they can see more. Since I started adding the "stamps", I've found a slight increase in views on my website. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not ... I'll never know for sure! To answer your query ... YES!!!!!!!!!! I don't have a GoPro, but I've been thinking of adding more videos when I go "on the road" in 2017. 25. AWESOME!!!! Great photos! You were in areas I was just in this past week ... namely US 52 through & southeast of Dixon IL! &, I plan to be along more parts of US 52 when I'm in the southeast US in April visiting friends (who used to live here in northern IL) in the Darlington SC area.
