    I am an retired civil engineering technician. I became interested in preserving and hi-lighting the National Road about the time that I retired from my engineering job with the Illinois Dept. of Transportation. I have fell in love with the history and culture of the old roads that formed our nation. <br /><br />I was part of the group that formed the six state National Road Alliance. I served a president of that group from 2003 thru 2005. I also helped form the National Road Assoication of Illinois and have served as Executive Director of this orginization since 1999.<br /><br />I am also an active member of our local historical society, The Cumberland County (Illinois) Historical Society. I am now serving as president of this orginization.<br /><br />I am also a Vietnam veterin and retired from the National Guard at the rank of Major.
