Neon in the Spotlight Updated

Some wags say the camel is a horse designed by a committee. The same might be said for the Jefferson Highway! This long forgotten but now much cherished classic American highway once stretched from the pines of Manitoba, Canada to the sultry palms of New Orleans. Mike Conlin, a map maker by trade, is the president of the Jefferson Highway Association with a passion for reconnecting this legendary thoroughfare. The association’s inaugural meeting was chronicled in the spring issue 2011 of American Road Magazine.- 8

Pops Restaurant Route 66, Arcadia, OK Updated
Pops Restaurant is a modern salute to the history of Route 66. They created their own roadside icon, a 66' tall pop bottle decked in LED lights. The restaurant itself is unique in that it serves over 700 variety of soda much of which is on display in the space-age glas restaurant in Arcadia, OK.- 9

Power Penguin Updated
Up in Cut Bank, Montana it gets mighty cold and to honor that fact, Ron Gustafson, the former owner of the Glacier Gateway Inn and Plaza built a 27' tall penguin. It was featured in the Holiday Tour Winter 2010 issue of American Road Magazine. Ron now owns an RV Park on the Gulf of Mexico. No more penguin patties for him!- 6
