Oatman Arizona is an old Minign town that was on one of the earliest alignments of route 66. Eventually the town dried up and was abandoned. The mules used by the miner were left there, and over the last 3/4 of a century of so have become indiginouse to the area. They now wander in and out of town on their own and love to be fed carots by the tourists. Oatman has also enjoyed a rebirth as a little tourist town along with the rebirth of Route 66. The ride down old Route 66 from Oatman heading west towards Cool Springs through Sitgrieves Pass is 9 miles long, with over 100 switchbacks and hair pin turns, and most of that without any shoulder or guarrails. made for a really interesting ride on the Harleys.
