Jim, Now those are some crazy roads!!! I have driven along a cliff face or two, but never where I had to keep one set of wheels on the hillside! That would be unbelievabe if I had not seen the pictures!! Keep the Show on the Road! Dave

Jim, You CAN drive a bridge that becomes a tunnel then becomes a bridge again - It's the Chesapeak Bay Bridge Tunnel on U S 13 between Capeville (Cape Charles) and Norfolk, Virginia. I've driven it a few times - it's quite awesome. As for some of those "awesome" roads you posted - definitely not what you want to look at BEFORE you have breakfast!!!!! LOL (or lunch either for that matter.) Hudsonly, Alex Burr Memphis, TN Edited September 5, 2008 by Alex Burr - hester_nec
mobilene
I looked up the US 13 bridge/tunnel -- very, very cool!
mattinwilmington3
I've driven the Chesapeake Bridge/Tunnel round trip twice on trips to the NC Outer Banks from Delaware, Jim. It is interesting seeing how choppy the southern part of the Bay is. Word has it that two boats have slammed into the bridge in it's history....learned that on the Modern Marvels TV show....heh, heh. It has 2 two lane spans now. The tunnels are two lanes only in one tube....too expensive to build other tubes, I guess. As I recall, there are two short tunnels...only long enough to let large vessels over them, I assume.
mattinwilmington3
Oh, let me throw this one in. I think this is amazing road building....and it did save the mountainside on Grandfather Mtn. in western NC. It's called the Linville Cove Viaduct. http://www.pbase.com/image/69218913
