Keep the Show on the Road!
It’s a quiet night so I put up some short 8mm movie clips from long ago road trips. . I would suggest you click on the full screen symbol in the lower right of the image to see them better. Regrettably they get compressed pretty heavily by the time you see them, so there are many artifacts The first is of the Las Vegas strip in December 1970. Note the absence of the huge hotels, and the price of gas (33 cents) at the Gulf station! http://www.vimeo.com/1526230 The second is a brief shot of downtown Reno at night, on the same trip in 1970. http://www.vimeo.com/1526148 The third is of Bend Oregon, on US 97, in the summer of 1967. http://www.vimeo.com/1506103 Nothing very exciting. mobilene
Great stuff, Dave! I liked the one of downtown Bend the best, but I'm kind of nostalgic for old downtowns. Bend had some great neon, to be sure.

I lived in Bend, Oregon when it was a Norman Rockwell town, complete with an operating main street, kids fishing in the Mirror Bond, and carolers singing at your door at Christmas time. It was a rare privilege. I only wish I had taken more movies of the town instead of the mountains and waterfalls! Keep the Show on the Road! mobilene
Town and people seem so commonplace while we're in those moments, so we don't think to capture them!
