DennyG
I caught this news via a RoadsideAmerica.com item that pointed to an article in a Columbus paper. It sounds like the preservationists are trying but losing. Glad I got to drive on it when it was only 111 years old. The Bellefontaine street sign shown in the RoadsideAmerica piece is a bit misleading. According to a nearby historical marker as well as other sources, a small concrete section was put in place on Main Street in 1891 but the bulk of the paving, including what is still in use on Court Street, was done in 1893. RoadDog
117 or 115 years, it's still pretty doggone old. This would definitely get me to visit the town. I take it that it is near Cincy. Where, exactly. At least most of it will be original. Never heard of George Bartholomew, though.

Dave I had a link to that very article on my site but it went dead. It was at at a Southern Illinois University site (suie.edu). I went to the site of the publisher (Concrete International) and, while the article can be located there, it can only be viewed by ACI members. So I've updated my site with the link to the Arizona State University site and if some big ACI fellows come looking for me, I'll blame it all on KtSotR and those fun loving college kids.
