The Rock Cafe, a famous stop for Route 66ers in Stroud, Oklahoma, burned down yesterday.

Sad to hear that. We just lost the Pig Hip a short time ago, now this.

Owner Dawn Welch is not sure whether or not she will rebuild. Hope she does.

Sad day indeed. Glad to have had a bite there on a couple of occasions. Last time we were there, we picked up one of their glasses they had for sale. Might have to have a cold Coke out of that glass tonight. Fortunately, Dawn had insurance, so the fate of the Rock might not be the same as Pop Hicks, which we lost 10-some years ago.

Terrible news. We always enjoyed stopping there on our 66 trips.

Raise that Coke glass to Dawn tonight Pat - and let's show her our support for the Rock Cafe as it was and perhaps as it will be.
