RoadDog
The Rock Cafe, a famous stop for Route 66ers in Stroud, Oklahoma, burned down yesterday. Sad to hear that. We just lost the Pig Hip a short time ago, now this. Owner Dawn Welch is not sure whether or not she will rebuild. Hope she does.

Glad to have had a bite there on a couple of occasions. Last time we were there, we picked up one of their glasses they had for sale. Might have to have a cold Coke out of that glass tonight. Fortunately, Dawn had insurance, so the fate of the Rock might not be the same as Pop Hicks, which we lost 10-some years ago.

Raise that Coke glass to Dawn tonight Pat - and let's show her our support for the Rock Cafe as it was and perhaps as it will be.
DennyG
...and perhaps as it will be. Ron Warnick's post on this includes some photos and videos and seems to be serving as a bulletin board for well wishers. Shellee Graham quotes Dawn as saying “I’m not goin’ down with the fire.”
