RoadDog
One of my favorite Chicago stations is Wdrv, the Drive, 97.1 FM, which plays classic rock. Their midday guy is Bob Stroud. He does a great Sunday special called Rock and Roll Roots from 7 to 10 AM. He always has a theme. By the way, the station streams live on the internet so you might want to give a listen. This past Sunday's theme was Used Car Lot. Along with some great old car commercials, including "see the USA in your ______" there was some great music. Wow, Dog, I realized that you're a music lover after listening to you discuss various songs while on the Dixie Highway Cruise. I can answer only a few you listed but in the spirit of the road here goes: See the USA in your Chevrolet Hot Rod Lincoln Mabellene (sp?) Little Old Lady from Pasadena Uneasy Rider Ol' Paint Gasoline Alley Mustang Sally Drive my Car Radar Love Get Your Kicks on Route 66 No Particular Place to Go Marshall Tucker I may have known all of the trivia answers at one time but time itself does take a toll. (And if gas prices are a little too steep for lots of cruisin' in your truck, perhaps you could get a Harley?).......Bliss This past Sunday's theme was Used Car Lot. Keep the Show on the Road!
RoadDog, Great idea. Thanks! I am going to put together a “road mix” CD from your list for my next trip. There is no better legal high then a top down cruise with the volume cranked up and a great set of road songs on the player. Keep the Show on the Road! RoadDog
In case anyone gives up on the songs, you can find the complete list at www.wdrv.com Go to the left side an click on Rock and Roll Roots and pick May 27. By the way, while visiting the site, I saw that June 1, 1967 was the release of the Beatles' "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album and the Drive will feature it tomorrow. Also Bob Stroud is going to do a Sgt. Pepper's" Time Warp on Sunday from 7 to 10 AM. Just thought you might want to know. Keep Rockin' Down that Two Lane Highway. --RoadDog
