THE ROUTE 66 ASSOCIATION OF MISSOURI PRESENTS OUR 28TH ANNUAL MOTOR TOUR

This year’s Motor Tour, “Down by the Riverside”, will be in the traditional point-to-point format on September 8-10, 2017. Look for the registration flyer included in the meeting notice mailed to you recently. A registration fee of $25 dollars per car applies.

Registration and a roadie gathering will be on Friday, September 8th between 4 PM and 9 PM at our host, the Best Western Plus Coach House Inn at 2535 N Glenstone Avenue in Springfield. Call for reservations at (417) 862-0701 by August 25, 2017 and ask for the Route 66 Association Motor Tour rate ($79.99 plus tax for one king or two queen beds).

After gathering for a brief driver meeting at 9 AM on Saturday, September 9th, we will journey eastward on our own. We will tour the Bennett Spring Fish Hatchery at 1 PM. This tour is free and no reservation is required.

The Days Inn & Suites at 97 Ozark Drive in Cuba is the host motel on Saturday night. Call for reservations at (573) 885-0100 by August 25, 2017 and ask for the Route 66 Association Motor Tour rate ($50.00 or $55.00 plus tax for one king or two queen beds, respectively).

The Wagon Wheel Motel on Historic Route 66 at 901 East Washington Boulevard, Cuba is a unique lodging option. Call (573) 885-3411 to learn more about this vintage boutique motel with lovingly restored rooms.

Beginning at 6:30 PM on Saturday night, Dottie’s Family Restaurant will host our festivities. Their regular buffet meal with dessert is $10.99 per person, subject to change and paid at the door. You may arrive at Dottie’s and dine whenever you like. Discuss the day with other roadies, look at the Route 66 murals, listen to a presentation on Route 66, and place bids in the Silent Auction.

On Sunday, we will leave around 9:00 AM and continue our journey eastward (no drivers meeting). The Motor Tour will end at the Dogwood Shelter inside Route 66 State Park with a BBQ lunch by Super Smokers. After a noon lunch, a walk “Down by the Riverside” to the Meramec River will be offered, weather permitting. Cost of lunch, including drink and dessert, is $15.00 per person paid in advance.

Proceeds from the Motor Tour’s Silent Auction go directly to the Preservation Fund. To donate Route 66-themed items, please bring them to an Association meeting or to the registration desk. Contact Tonya Pike or Robert Schulz for more information or to arrange pickup. Remember—your donations make the Silent Auction fun for all AND raise money for preservation!

We must receive your signed registration form and payment by August 25, 2017. Check the Association’s website or Facebook page in case any details change. Or contact Robert Schulz at (618) 799-8021; schulz@htc.net or Tommy Pike at (417) 865-1318; furyon66@earthlink.net.
