roadhound
In August I took a trip across Arizona and into New Mexico to drop my daughter off in Santa Fe to start her freshman year of college. Along the way I was able to do a little bit of road exploration and reached a destination that had been on my radar for a number of years. mga707
Great picture! I've seen the building from I-40 but have not been close-up--yet!
beckyrepp
Hi Rick, Nice photos! Denny, yes, you should definitely go there. Thomas and I were there, way back when, doing research for Route 66: Romance of the West. That same trip we had the privilege of meeting and interviewing Joy Nevin, who once lived at Painted Desert TP. That was amazing. If you go to Holbrook, look for Joy Nevin Ave., named in her honor. black85vette
We made the trek out there several years ago. Don't know if it was just luck but the locked gate, which we encountered last trip, was not closed and we just drove on out. We also continued across the bridge almost to the border of the park. It was still drivable but a little rough and over grown. Love going places where the tour buses don't pull up. :-)
