Keep the Show on the Road!
Keep's Webcams on the American Road: This is a quick and dirty proof of concept test. I plan to create a Vaction and Travel Scenic American Road Trips Webcam Directory here and provide the opportunity for other members to post their favorites in this thread. Recommended webcam views that meet the demanding standards set by "yours truly" will be considered for addition to the Directory. Details to follow.....advice is sought and usually appreciated! Keep the Show on the Road!
Thursday, October 1, 2009 The first snow has fallen in the western mountains. The web cams at Aspen, Mt Rainier, and the Grand Tetons show snow on the ground and on the trees. I have been watching for the change to yellow leaves. It is well underway at Aspen, partly so at the Tetons, but not showing yet at Mt Rainier or Glacier National Parks. Get on the road!!! As time permits I will add more cameras. Your suggestions are welcome. Dave Keep the Show on the Road!
beckyrepp
Hi Dave, Great idea! Not sure if this qualifies, but, I found this site: http://www.nature.nps.gov/air/WebCams/ The National Park Service posts web cams at various parks throughout the country. This site includes links to web cams at: Great Smokey Mtns NP Mammoth Cave Acadia NP Washington DC Theodore Roosevelt NP Grand Canyon NP Big Bend NP Hawaii Volcanoes Denali Joshua Tree Sequoia Yosemite Point Reyes North Cascades NP Olympic NP Mt. Rainier Becky
Keep the Show on the Road!
Thanks Becky, We just got back a couple of hours ago from a week long road trip that took us through Mt Rainier NP, Glacier NP, and the North Cascades NP. We wanted to enjoy the fall colors, preferably after a light snow. The web cams helped us choose when to leave, and what to see. Combined with the National Weather Service site, we manabed to stay in the sunshine most of the way, and enjoy a spectatular two lane trip. I visited my own post here to easily get to the web cams. I hope to add more as time and inclination permit. Your list will be helpful! Dave
DennyG
When I first spot checked some of these cameras on an early Ohio morning, they all looked the same -- black. They are much more interesting after sunrise
