Orphaned asphalt: Beartooth Highway the road everybody loves, but nobody claims

 

COOKE CITY - A flag person halts cars on the eastern edge of this tiny mountain town for several minutes, waiting for a pilot car to return from the 10-mile round trip through a highway reconstruction project that - on this particular segment, at least - is nearing its end.
