Great bridges make great cities.

 

For most of the past few centuries, some of the most important structures constructed in many of the more memorable places in the world have been bridges. In fact, the bridge often becomes a veritable symbol of the city itself. The Golden Gate in San Francisco, the Brooklyn Bridge in New York and London Bridge come to mind.
