For those of you not familiar with Route 66 history, Angel Delgadillo of Seligman Arizona is considered the person most responsible for reviving the Mother Road and bringing it back to life. Angel has spent the last 20 plus years crusading for the establishment of Route 66 as a national historic landmark and has been pretty sucessful. When the road was completely bypassed by the interstates (40 and 44) back in the early 80s and the Route 66 was decommissioned, the Mother Road was on it's deathbed, and many of the small towns along it were either dead or close to dying. Through Angel's efforts and the efforts of many others like him along its path through 8 states, it has had a breath of life breathed back into it. Today Route 66 is the Roadtrip of choice for hundreds of thousands of tourists from the all of the U.S. and all over the world.
