I love vintage family photographs, especially when they involve cars. Such is the case with this photo taken by a friend at the 1985 Rod Run in Pigeon Forge TN:
Which of these 2 would you most want to restore if you could?
    Farm-find Cadillac!
BTW, today, 02/21/2016, is National Sticky Bun Day! This 2-tone Ford has that motif:

Did you know today, 02/14/2016, is CHD Awareness Day?
You might say it is near & dear to my heart!
    Remember the 1-of-these-is-not-like-the-others childhood song?
This used car lot seems to have that theme!
Images of scale models, like these taken by OC,SHer TOM G, are very cool & have the appearance of 1:1 editions:
    &
A Ford for WorkTruck Wednesday, with 2 songs of the same name, both of which are meaningful to me:
What vehicles have caused you to stop in your tracks when you see them? Not a fan of this car, but a family connection made me pause when I saw it in a pic taken by a friend!

  3. Thanks fellows for the come backs! Butte retains a great deal of it's historical character and "feel." I would imaging my grandfather Paul would have recognized much of what I saw.

Cort, I'm sorry that you missed Butte. You would have enjoyed it.

It is good to see my "old" American Road colleagues still dropping by! I think I may put together some more on my Yellowstone Highway (National Park to Park) trip.

    Hey Dave!

I hope you do put together more of it. I may not see it "right away", but I always try to check in here at least once a week.

I am, too, sorry I missed, Butte. From your description & photos, I know I would've loved my time there. Trouble is ... I may have wanted to stay longer than I should-could ... ha! I sure wish I could get back out on the road, my home.

The owner-proprietor of Afton Station in Oklahoma, a Route 66 personality & friend of mine, died 01/28/2016. I dedicated Chapter 50 of my Route 66-based story to her:
Chapter 51, which will publicize today (Sunday, 02/07/2016) at 6p US central, talks further about filling shoes of Route 66 icons-ambassadors-roadies who are no longer with us.
Which would you rather have: new sporty (Chevrolet Z-71) or old sporty (Ford Mustang)!?
When is the last time you saw a 1987 Cadillac Cimarron?
    Or, a 1959 Edsel!
BTW, today (02/07/2016) marks the beginning of Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Awareness Week:
Tonight, a post about a CHD-related Super Bowl commercial will publicize ~9p US central.

I've often wondered who all has a connection to Butte MT ... partly because of a song. So, query is: did you get a haircut while you were there? ;) [see: Ray Stevens' "The Haircut Song"]

When I did my last road trip in 2011 ("Coast-to-Coast"), I wanted to include Butte MT as a stop, but was unable to fit it in due to time constraints. Looking at your pics, I wish I could've visited!

Serious query to-for those who own their own business &/or are involved with advertising-marketing: where &/or what have you found to be the best place &/or form to get the word out in terms of cost effectiveness & results-performance?
When is the last time you saw a Vega wagon!?
Which would you prefer to drive &/or own: Impala or Studebaker?
The death of a friend, Laurel Richards Kane (proprietor at the Afton OK Station Packard Museum), has given me pause the last few days; similar thoughts have me wondering what would be on a film of the life of this Chrysler, which seems to be watching its life flash by!

It does not take much to spark many memories, which is partly why I launched OC,SH:
2 days after that meme I created posted, I celebrated the year anniversary of launching my website 01/19/2015!
& now, having sold my 1989 Caprice Classic Brougham 09/01/2015 (& the other family of cars I owned prior to that) I am looking for a new vehicle to go along with my new life chapter (part-time Office Manager, started 12/09/2015) & become the new OC,SH flagship vehicle. Once my 1979 Caprice Classic sedan is sold (sooner the better due to some memories it sparks), I want to buy 1 of these for year-round daily driving:
    1990-1991 Mercury Grand Marquis
    1992-1993 Buick Roadmaster
    1992-1995 Mercury Grand Marquis
    1995 Ford Thunderbird
Anything I should look out for on any of these particular years & models?
(& no, I do not want suggestions of other vehicles to consider!)
This past week, while the radiator was replaced in the 1979 CC, my mechanic loaned me a 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis for the day. It was niiiice, but I would prefer cloth seats to vinyl-leather.
    __
Instead of making 2 topics, including some highlights. Having the part-time job has forced me to change some schedules, so I have not had the opportunity to participate here as much as I would like or as much as I used to visit, at least not yet.
What 1 vehicle (vintage or new) from each of the Big 3 (Dodge, Ford, GM) would you choose to represent each company?
Iconic nameplate: the Ford Thunderbird! Did you know these details?
    Vintage K-9 Dodge:
Ad for the 1-year-only 1977 Pontiac Can Am + some did-you-know info:

Anyone into MGs? Family friends had a white convertible (black top) back in the 1980s; I rode in it a few times &, as a youngster, was fascinated (for lack of a better term) by the 3 windshield wipers vs. the conventional 2! While it seems a popular color is British Racing Green, of these 3, which color do you prefer: red, yellow or blue?
While the rusty truck is interesting, the building behind it is somewhat of a mystery. Any ideas what it is!?
Among other things, today (well, 01/03/2016) is National Fruitcake Toss Day! Not sure where they come up with things like this, but I bet many people love to toss fruitcakes. ;) Meantime, a gorgeous red Chevelle is featured:

End of 2015 is nearly here; interesting year with rather low lows & very high highs. I end 2015 with a cracked rib, thanks to a cough I have had on & off for a while now; doctor says it could take up to 6 weeks to heal. Slightly painful, but better than what I thought the pains meant: more heart trouble.
I love this type of photography: in-focus object with a slightly out-of-focus background!
When is the last time you have seen a 1977 Pontiac Can Am in person?
A blue battle: would you rather drive &/or own a vintage Ford or Dodge pickup?
During my 2002-2011 road trips, I visited cruise nights as much as possible; I saw this head-turning 1958 Impala at a cruise night in western Pennsylvania in 2005:
Who all has made (still makes?) automotive collages? I did when I was a kid! Now, I kinda wish I had saved the entire ad, not just cut the cars out; you will see what I mean when I feature some of mine! Meantime, the son of a cousin recently created this collage:

I can hardly believe it is Christmas Eve 2015 already! This year things are looking brighter than they have in a while; 4 years ago, I had my 4th open heart surgery (11/11/2011), broadcast my (so far) last Holiday radio show (12/24/2011) & lost my job (February 2012). This year, I finally have a part-time job. What a difference a few years make, eh?
This season, I am featuring songs from my 12/24/2009, 12/24/2010 & 12/24/2011 Holiday radio shows on Wednesdays & Saturdays. These 3 posted last night:
Also this year, a special scale model Christmas series of 6 cards is posting. It started this past Monday, 12/21/2015, & continues through Saturday, 12/26/2015. Then, a behind-the-scenes look followed by the reveal of the answer keys, starting 01/04/2016. Here is the entry that posted Christmas Eve AM:

It is so cool to arrive at the weekend with it having meaning again! Yep, it is only a part-time job & will take a long time to replenish my savings, but it is a start. Yesterday (Friday), I successfully completed my 1st full week back to work after nearly 4 years of no job. My next full week is the 1st week of January 2016 due to the Holidays. Also Friday, I received my 1st paycheck in over 3 years! Have not decided how to celebrate, but I have a few ideas.
Meantime, this weekend (specifically today, Saturday, 12/19/2015) marks 3 years since I launched Old Cars, Strong Hearts:
    Multiple-meanings: a not-tired Mercury Cougar!
From the sports world, is this green Plymouth a car you would own or just like to drive?
Which do you want most: Pontiac Grand Prix or Ford Mustang?
Speaking of the Ford Mustang, I do not believe I have ever seen 1 in this color! What rare colors have you seen?

I prefer to travel the rural areas and small towns.

We are very much alike in this area! This is precisely why I prefer to go west of Elgin ... to the old 2-lane roads, including US 20. 1 of my favorite drives is taking US 20 west out to the Hampshire-Starks IL area, then taking other 2 lane roads back to IL RT 23, then back via Sycamore & along IL RT 47 (which, coincidentally, connects (more or less) US 20, Route 66 & the Lincoln Highway in IL!

It is very frustrating to watch what you've built up & saved evaporate into the thin air, literally & figuratively ... & then to be "left behind" by so-called friends. *shrugs* Part of life, I know, but it still doesn't take the sting away. Very glad you have been able to hang on; I know how tough that is at times.

I this posted early Wednesday morning about the new job starting:
Days 1-2-3 went well. It was surreal enough to be back in the workforce I did not get much done this week; adjustment time has commenced! Given my cough & other things I want to do, glad this is part-time. Tho my pocket book may not like it, this is an excellent way to get back into a routine & not feel too completely drained. While I am starting to understand my tasks, I get a bit confused & flustered; I am anxious to get to the point when I understand what to do & how it fits into the big picture. All in due time, I know. Next week will be 5 straight days, 4 hours each. Hoping this cough & chest pain will be gone soon, too.
