This finding doesn't surprise me. I had stopped at my local mechanic's place to have my '79 CC checked out for something, and ended up talking to an older gentleman (I believe in his late 70s or early 80s) that had brought his 1990s-era Lincoln Town Car in for some minor repairs/adjustments. He had just bought it to replace another 1990s-era Lincoln Town Car of his, one he had brought brand new but had just been totaled. He was on a stretch of Randall Rd in this area. The light had just turned green and, as he was starting to move forward, he was rear-ended by a car going 50 mph. The gal, out driving during her college's spring break, had been texting and didn't bother to notice the stoplight. The impact crunched the back of his TC and shoved it over an embankment, separating the 2 directions of Randall Rd. He was OK, but his car was totaled ... as was hers. According to him, the "jaws of life" had to be used to get her out of the car, as her engine had been pushed through the dashboard. She was OK, though. Awesome, Dave! My manager at work LOVES Subarus. About a year ago, she traded in her 2003 (?) Subaru Forester for a 2010 Subaru Impreza/Outback. LOL! I really don't have the space either, but they were too good to pass up! Oh, cool! Be sure to post pics when it is up!!! We're talking large and small scale ... so you're fine . Where do you find/buy your HO scale models? I've stopped at a few hobby shops in the area, but none of them seem to have a good selection. That sounds like a tough decision, Denny. I have 2 other friends that bought the Clubman ... and they love it. The lone complaint (for lack of a better term) that they BOTH have about it ... it isn't as versatile as they'd like. For you, Denny, I would think the Forester would be the better option of the two. *** The only other car I want ... a 2011 Dodge Charger, Toxic Orange with tan/neutral interior trim. Anyone else have thoughts of changing up the automotive family? For a while, I've wanted to add the following vehicles to my car family: 1975 Caprice Classic convertible 1977 Caprice Classic sedan 1978 Caprice Classic coupe 1989 Caprice Classic 9C1 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe But, now ... the only vehicle I want to add to my family is a 1989 Caprice Classic (sedan or 9C1), to be the "summer" daily driver to my "winter warrior" 1979 Caprice Classic sedan. Along with that, I've decided that, if the "right" '1989 CC (good shape, FI, cruise control, A/C, power, road trip worthy, etc.) comes along, I'll probably sell my 1972 MC. Why? Because my '72 MC is the only "expendable" MC I own ... the '76 is the year my parents had; the '79 is my first car; the '81 was my parents' car; and the '87 has sentimental reasons for the year.... But, even that plan could change, if my next checkup indicates I need more surgery ...and/or... I buy my own house.... In the meantime, my newest cars will have to do ... ~50 of them. I bought 80 cars, ~30 of which I bought for my nephew, who is learning what each car is VERY quickly! *** This new road's speed limit is 45 MPH, even though the road is a 4-lane beauty with little to no current development. I suspect that will change in the future, though, with all the "growth" along Randall Rd the last few years. Reports...AND pictures, of course. My main road trip is the end of June into July, which I'll post about separately since I have the long itinerary set. BUT ... I'm also thinking of some smaller weekend trips this year, depending on time available. I really want to make it to Nashville/Jackson/Big Sandy TN because I didn't get a chance last year ... and it's been a couple years now since I've been to my favorite area of the country. We'll see how the year goes.... One thing I do to save money ... DURING my road trips ... is to stay with family and friends along the way. The major exception to this, for me, was my Route 66 trip in 2009. Otherwise, my other road trips, from 2002 to 2010, about 2 weeks each trip once a year, I spent maybe 10 nights in a hotel. I "chip in" when/where ever possible during my stays ... and I always offer to help out when/where I can. Save money for a hotel (obviously) ... and it gives me more time to spend with the people I want to see along my way.
