Now that is a rough road...thanks for sharing this.

Dave,
You got some interesting and "well seen" shots of Albuquerque. My wife and I zoomed through on the f******, and now see we missed some worthwhile stops. Thanks for the photos!
We are heading back again for a week in August 2011. I hope to get some more shots...it is one of our favorite parts of the USA so far.

Your mom's looking good and her travel record is remarkable but it's lonesome George on the mountain that really caught my eye. I don't believe I've ever seen a similar picture. Very cool.
Thanks Denny...that is amazing to me too. It is one of my favorite travel photos from Mom's past. Yet a Facebook Friend also has a photo of relatives with just George on Mount Rushmore. It made us wonder how close they were to being there the same time. We will never know.

Dave,
I remembered this sign from years back and was glad to see the sign was still there. But the Motel was closed in mid-September with no lights on the building or even the office illuminated...not a good sign when it clearly says "OPEN ALL YEAR".

Mobilene,
Where is this fantastic looking museum? I normally just enjoy the post WWII Studes, but this is a fantastic looking piece of sheet metal.

Scrapple...I live in the area and have not had the nerve to eat it for about 20years. You are brave!

Dave,
Never heard of Madrid but it looks like a fun place. I looked it up on the map, and now wish I had taken the road you did when we went to Santa Fe. Maybe next time!
If you ever watch the movie Wild Hogs, they spend a good part of the film in Madrid. When we were there they had NO cell phone service, and we signed a petition that a store owner was sponsoring to get a cell tower in the area. In the movie, they used their cell phones significantly in the plot. Now I wonder if they got the tower, or if it was just a plot device that could not have happened there.

Dave,
Interesting site. Where is it?
This was just a few minutes north of Madrid on the Turquoise Trail, on the left side of the road while heading north.

It was a great little stop. A beautiful road to drive from Tinkertown to Sante Fe. I am sure glad we used the Turquoise Trail...

Not what I would consider historic preservation, but it is better than the fake stone work over many local diners here in the Lehigh Valley...

Is it as interesting as it looks like it should be? (bad sentence construction I know)

I just hate when that happens...

This photo has a great Vintage Postcard look to it. Thanks.

That's what I call Drive-Thru dining!

HubCap Cafe

The Cafe, called the HubCap Café, is now opened on weekends, and most days during the warmer months. Check the museum website before visiting to see if is opened on a particular day as it has also become a popular site for High School reunions, family events including birthday parties, company meetings, and even weddings. When was the last time you saw an Egg Cream on a menu???
