Dave, The color looks similar to the Bittersweet that is listed as a Chevrolet Color for 1952, but the museum car looks a bit lighter/brighter.I do not know how accurate the website is either, but this is a really fun show. I will need to check out the tires with a closer inspection this week... Take care Buddy,

America on Wheels in Allentown currently is opening our new exhibit featuring many firsts from Chevrolet's 100 years in business. We are awaiting the 1911 Little in a few weeks, but we have a 1967 Indy Pace Car Camaro, a 1953 Corvette, 1 1918 V-8, a 1962 Chevy II with less than 1500 original miles, and a 1955 Nomad among many others. You can see some of my photos of the show on Flickr, as well as a I made to promote the Slot Car Weekend I am running at the museum on July 16 & 17. It is fun to be able to combine two hobbies into one and share them with the community. Tom, at that time you may wish to look towards a MINI as they are not small on the inside, but get better gas mileage and are fun to drive! You can road test our MINI Clubman when you are in Allentown.

We ended up selecting a different hotel off of RT66 due to many factors, but we got a great deal. I will report after-the-fact on the hotel and the trip.

Tom, When I have made the Allentown to Annapolis run, I have gone I-78 to Harrisburg, and pick up I-83 till I get close to Baltimore. From that area it does get congested. You can also take US 15 towards Gettsyburg instead of going directly south through York. There are parallel roads that you can follow for most of the stretches until Baltimore comes into play. I often end up jumping off and taking an earlier road until we decide we need to make up some time, and then I return to the Interstate. I too avoid I-95 like the plague most of the time...

I saw it was mentioned before, but I was wondering if anyone had some opinions of the place. The location is on Central Avenue close to the Kimo Theatre, meaning I can do some foot exploring photography, and it is not a bad drive to Kirtland AFB where our son will be residing temporarily when we visit. Please let me know if you have had any experience with this hotel, good or bad. Thanks.

Having looked at your post when I got the blog notice, I have decided this will be an eventual project on some trip. I may want to do this for the Madrid NM parts of "Wild Hogs"...

Glad to hear the change-over is complete. Does your Forester have the paddle shifters? We have that on the Mini and our Forester, but I never really use it. I had the TR3 out Monday just to get to shift gears again. Congratulations Denny. I hope you enjoy your Subaru as much as we do ours...

Tom, In 1958 I am not even sure if we locked the car. We normally stayed at motels that had one space in front of each motel room, and you parked right outside your room. Our family never traveled with tools as my Dad had no clue, and passed on his do-it-yourself knowledge to me, which is why I do have a credit card and AAA card when traveling. With a trunk like your MB, you should have everything of value well hidden from prying eyes. Now I would carry the spare tire and jack, and some flares and reflectors to make a broken down car visible. My cell phone would be my next tool to use to call AAA.

Sounds like a fun trip. I did not know if you were getting to Old Sturbridge Village, or the New England Air Museum, Plimouth, or even doing the Segway tour of Newport. So much to see and do in New England...

Thanks for keeping us in the loop with photos of your stops. Where else are you planning to visit in New England? I have not been there since September and want to go back...

Thanks for the update. I hope this can be restored and tied to Harry somewhere, even the Little White House in Key West, although Missouri makes more sense. And I agree, it is a great book. I have loaned out my copy several times so far.
