Virginia Peanut Festival

56th annual family-friendly event, Virginia Peanut Festival, presented by Emporia-Greensville Chamber of Commerce features midway rides for all ages. Also, carnival games and favorite fair food.
The peanut harvest celebration starts Thursday with the annual Kick-Off Kook-Off Food Tasting Competition. The Competition commences at the Emporia Farmers Market in Veterans Memorial Park, the festival site.
The Dreamland Amusements carnival opens Friday at Old Elementary School site on other side of South Main Street.
Festival highlights include live music, arts and crafts, annual Car and Truck Show, and peanut farm tour. Also, enjoy farm animal petting zoo, Civil War re-enactors, educational exhibits, antique tractor displays and variety of fair food. The annual festival parade rolls at 11 a.m. on Saturday, with fireworks display at night.
FREE parking and admission to the festival and carnival.
Unlimited ride wristbands (for riders 36 inches and taller) are $25 Thursday and Friday, and $15 on Sunday. Ride tickets are $1.50 each, $25 for 20 tickets, or $50 for 50 tickets plus 1 free ride. (Rides take 2 or more tickets each.)

Midway hours are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday. Furthermore, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Festival hours are 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, and 4:30 p.m. to 11 p,m, Friday. Also, 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday.
