Friends of the Edisto (FRED) invites everyone to attend the Fifth Annual Blackwater Summer Festival at beautiful Aiken State Park.
Park gates open at 9 a.m. Aiken State Park charges $2 for parking. Also, registration opens at 9 a.m. and the festivities begin at 10 a.m.
Aiken State Park features swimming and boating facilities, including a canoe and kayak trail along the South Fork Edisto River. There are also hiking trails around the festival area, and camping grounds if you want to make a weekend of it.
Enjoy a home-cooked BBQ lunch with all the fixins. Bring a cooler (no alcoholic beverages, please) and a picnic blanket for the family. Furthermore, well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to join, too.
The event is FREE to FRED members. Non-members can join FRED for special starting annual dues of $10. Members whose membership has lapsed, the renewal fee is $25 for a Basic membership. Also, non-members can enjoy the all-day activities for a donation of $10.
