Aiken Symphony Orchestra presents Handel’s Messiah

Aiken Symphony Orchestra presents Handel’s Messiah, a musical rite of the holiday season. The Baroque-era oratorio still awes listeners 250 years after the composer’s death. The English-language oratorio was composed in 1741. Even more, George Frederic Handel with a scriptural text compiled by Charles Jennens from the King James Bible. Similarly, first performed in Dublin as an Easter offering in April 1742. Another, its London premiere almost a year later. Certainly, one of the best known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music.
Four soloist and chorus join the Aiken Symphony Orchestra. The Orchestra performs at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church for this special Christmas concert. The parish of St. Mary Help of Christians founded in 1853. The parish has served diligently to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ for over 150 years to the people of Aiken.
