47th Annual Christmas Candlelighting
December 1, 2018
Historic Roscoe Village cheers on the holiday season with its Christmas Candlelighting Ceremony. Guests visiting the Candlelightings will experience a truly old-fashioned Christmas. Listen to a Christmas story and enjoy holiday music as guests gather around the stage in the center of the village to witness the lighting of a 30-foot Christmas tree.
The Honorary Candlelighter will light his/her candle from the main candle on stage, then the flame is passed through the crowd. As the candle lighting spreads, each guest joins in the singing of Silent Night, until everyone’s candle is glowing. Candlelighting Ceremonies begin at 6 p.m.
A variety of family fun activities will be offered throughout the day: horse-drawn carriage rides, roasted chestnuts, strolling carolers, hands-on crafts, A Roscoe Christmas Tour, and holiday shopping and dining in Roscoe Village. FREE cookies and hot-mulled cider will be available later in the afternoon at the center of the village. Activities may vary for each Christmas Candlelighting and some may require a fee to participate. Parking and admission is FREE to the public.
Returning for the third year, on December 8th, is the Christmas Crafters Event from 11am – 5pm in the Lock Landing, located on the lower level of the Visitor Center. Crafters will showcase homemade items that are perfect for holiday gifting.
