Prior to Route 66, the State of New Mexico was only accessible by gravel and dirt roads. During the roaring twenties, Route 66 made automobile travel to the exotic, wild, mythical Southwest possible. By 1984, Route 66 had been replaced by the Interstate highway system. Hand wrought copper Route 66 sign permanently brazed to a 1/2-inch sterling silver disc.
